Listen to this week’s message:
According to Buddha, “You only lose what you cling to.”
How attached are you? A number of years ago I had all of my most valuable jewelry stolen from my apartment in Manhattan. When the theft first happened I was devastated. It was not only a violation of my space but a couple of special gifts were taken, including an engagement ring I used to wear on a chain as a necklace. I eventually let it all go, realizing that material things could be replaced and my memories would carry on. Now, whenever I lose something, I remind myself that it wasn’t really mine to begin with. Everything in life is on loan. In certain spiritual practices attachment is considered the root of suffering. So, release it all. Be in the world and not of it. Enjoy the trinkets of living, but don’t be trapped by them. Instead of hoarding possessions, freely give things away and see how happy that makes you.
Until next time, remember – it’s your divine life, live it to the fullest. The power is in your hands!
With Purpose & Power,
Terri
